“Complete 2026 NFL Survivor pool strategy with two full 18-week paths, home-field and travel edges, teams to fade, and injury updates so you can survive from Week 1 through Week 18.”
NFL Survivor is one of the most entertaining ways to bet the season. Pick one team to win each week on the money line—no spreads—and you can only use each team once. The goal is simple: go 18-0 from Week 1 through Week 18. Tie rules vary by contest (some count as a win, some as a loss), so confirm that before you lock in. You do not have to submit every pick on opening weekend, but you do need a plan. Going week-to-week without a map usually leaves you with weak options in December and January.
This guide lays out the core principles, the spots that matter most, and two complete paths through the 18-week slate.

Survivor Rules and Core Strategy
The basic rules are straightforward: one team per week, that team cannot be reused, and you only need the team to win—not cover. Most office and sportsbook pools run Week 1 through Week 18. Some Vegas-style contests add separate Thanksgiving and Christmas slates; the paths below focus on the standard 18-week version.
Winning Survivor is less about finding the biggest favorite every week and more about using each team in its best remaining spot. Key principles:
- Prioritize home teams. Winning on the road is hard in the NFL.
- Avoid division games when possible. Those matchups get sloppy.
- Target rest and travel disadvantages: back-to-back road games, third consecutive road game, East Coast-to-West Coast (or vice versa) swings, early kickoffs for West Coast teams, and games coming off a bye or heading into one.
- Save elite teams for later only if their early spots are not obviously better. Injuries happen; getting a healthy version of a good roster early can be smarter than waiting.
- Popularity matters in large pools. If the chalk loses, half the field can go out. Contrarian but still high-probability picks create leverage.
- Check your pool’s tie rule. Ties are rare, but they have saved entries before.
These rules are not absolute. Some weeks force you to break them. The two paths below do that in a few spots because the remaining options left no cleaner alternative.

NFL Survivor Weeks 1-6 Picks
Week 1
Seahawks at home vs. Patriots. Super Bowl winners are historically strong in home openers (19-3 since 2000). Seattle just beat New England in the Super Bowl and remains the more complete roster.
Alternative: Jaguars at home vs. Browns. Deshaun Watson as the starter is an easy fade until proven otherwise.
Week 2
49ers at home vs. Dolphins. San Francisco should have extra rest after the Australia trip and a favorable matchup against a Miami team that struggles to stop the run and is traveling coast-to-coast.
Alternative: Chargers at home vs. Raiders. Use a healthy Chargers team early against a still-building Raiders roster.
Week 3
Lions at home vs. Jets. Talent gap and home-field make this too large an ask for New York even if the Jets punch above their win-total projection.
Alternative: 49ers at home vs. Cardinals. Get a strong roster used before injuries typically mount.
Week 4
Vikings at home vs. Dolphins. Miami’s offensive line and overall roster construction look poor; Minnesota should be improved, and Brian Flores will feast.
Alternative: Giants at home vs. Cardinals. West Coast team, early kickoff (10 a.m. body-clock time), back-to-back road game, and a weak Arizona defense. Best remaining Giants spot.
Week 5
Steelers at home vs. Colts. Extra rest after Thursday Night Football plus Indianapolis on the second of back-to-back road games.
Alternative: Patriots at home vs. Raiders. Dome team outdoors, questionable Raiders offensive line and receiving corps against a solid New England defense.
Week 6
Rams at home vs. Cardinals. Arizona’s fourth road game in six weeks and no realistic way to slow the Rams offense.
Alternative: Jaguars in London vs. Texans. Jacksonville already has a week on the ground, plays international games regularly, and owns the body-clock advantage.
Both paths fade the Dolphins, Cardinals, and Raiders early. Those three teams keep appearing as opponents for a reason.
NFL Survivor Weeks 7-12 Picks
Week 7
Texans at home vs. Giants. Houston’s revamped line and run game plus a secondary that can handle New York’s supporting receivers.
Alternative: Broncos at Arizona. Clear talent edge and Denver coming off Thursday Night Football.
Week 8
Cowboys at home vs. Cardinals. Continue fading Arizona.
Alternative: Bengals at home vs. Titans. Tennessee’s defense has no chance against Cincinnati’s skill players.
Week 9
Chiefs at home vs. Jets. Kansas City should be rolling by midseason.
Alternative: Saints at home vs. Browns. Cleveland’s third consecutive road game against a roster that is already thin on talent.
Week 10
Colts at home vs. Dolphins. Both paths land here. Miami cannot stop the run and Indianapolis’s skill players should be healthy enough by this point.
Week 11
Bills at home vs. Dolphins. Warm-weather team in Buffalo in November, back-to-back road games.
Alternative: Bears at home vs. Saints. Dome team traveling to Chicago in November.
Ryan Poles is owed an apology.
He took over a broken franchise with the most dead cap money and no 1st round pick, then completely rebuilt it:
• Hired Ben Johnson, who said Poles was a major reason he chose Chicago
• Drafted Caleb Williams, Darnell Wright, Colston Loveland,… pic.twitter.com/rhVT2Vd1Xi— Bears Facts (@DaBearsTakeOver) August 30, 2026
Week 12 (Thanksgiving week)
Rams at home vs. Packers. Both teams coming off byes into a midweek game; Los Angeles is the superior roster at home.
Alternative: Vikings at home vs. Falcons. Atlanta’s pass rush and quarterback processing questions against Brian Flores.
The Dolphins and Cardinals remain the clearest fades through the middle of the season.

Final Thoughts
Do not submit an entire 18-week card on day one. Use the maps as a living document. If a team you planned to use in Week 8 is 2-5, pivot. Shop lines, confirm tie rules, and remember that surviving the first six weeks is more important than finding the cutest contrarian pick. The teams that look like easy fades in September usually stay easy fades. Stick to home fields, rest edges, and travel spots, and you give yourself a real chance to be one of the last entries standing in Week 18.
