DEN Broncos Overall Draft Grade: B
The Broncos entered the draft with limited early-round capital after moving out of both the first and second rounds. Despite the lack of premium selections, Denver found quality value throughout the draft. The Broncos opened with Texas A&M defensive tackle Tyler Onyedim, adding another piece to an already strong defensive front. While he may not completely replace the production lost from Jonathan Franklin-Myers, he provides valuable depth and rotational flexibility.
Denver’s best value selections came on Day 3. Running back Jonah Coleman gives Sean Payton another versatile offensive weapon capable of contributing as both a runner and receiver. Kage Casey was one of the highest-graded picks in the class and could eventually develop into a long-term answer along the offensive line. Meanwhile, seventh-round linebacker Red Murdock may prove to be one of the biggest steals of the draft. The former Buffalo standout finished his college career as the FBS all-time leader in forced fumbles and brings the type of energy coaches love on special teams and defense.
NFL Rookie Minicamp Results
The Broncos held rookie minicamp from May 8-10 at their training facility in Englewood, Colorado. The event featured 60 players, including draft picks, undrafted free agents, and more than 30 tryout participants.
One of the biggest surprises of camp was the emergence of tight end Caleb Lohner, who generated significant buzz after an impressive weekend. Sean Payton noted that Lohner looked dramatically improved compared to last season and appeared more comfortable utilizing his unique 6-foot-7 frame. Among the rookies, Jonah Coleman stood out with his burst and pass-protection ability, while Justin Joly quickly established himself as a reliable target in the passing game.
Red Murdock also impressed coaches by handling communication responsibilities within the rookie defense. Defensive coordinator Vance Joseph tasked the seventh-round pick with relaying calls and directing coverages, demonstrating an early level of trust in his football intelligence. Overall, Denver’s rookie class appeared prepared and well-coached as they transitioned into Organized Team Activities.

Denver Broncos Updated 2026 Win Total Projection
The Broncos enter the 2026 season with a projected win total of 9.5 victories. At first glance, that number may seem surprisingly low for a team coming off a 14-3 season and the AFC’s No. 1 seed. However, sportsbooks are clearly expecting some level of regression.
Much of that concern stems from Denver’s difficult schedule. The Broncos face one of the toughest slates in football, including multiple opponents projected to win at least 10 games. Oddsmakers are also accounting for the reality that Denver went an incredible 12-3 in one-score games last season, a number that is historically difficult to repeat.
The good news for Broncos fans is that there are reasons for optimism. Quarterback Bo Nix is expected to be fully healthy by training camp, and the acquisition of wide receiver Jaylen Waddle gives Sean Payton another explosive weapon on offense. ESPN analyst Mike Clay projects Denver closer to 11 wins, suggesting the Broncos could once again outperform expectations. If Nix continues his development and the offense takes another step forward, Denver has a realistic path to exceeding the 9.5-win projection despite the difficult schedule.
