The Jacksonville Jaguars entered the 2026 NFL Draft coming off a division championship season, but several of their selections left analysts scratching their heads. The biggest question surrounded second-round tight end Nate Boerkircher. While Boerkircher is viewed as an outstanding blocker with legitimate NFL upside, Jacksonville already possessed depth at the position and had more pressing roster needs elsewhere.

Many evaluators viewed the Oregon guard as a potential Day 1 selection, making him one of the biggest value picks in Jacksonville’s draft class. NFL Rookie Minicamp Results
The Jaguars completed rookie minicamp from May 8-10 at the Miller Electric Center. The event focused heavily on classroom work, installation, and player development as the organization introduced its newest draft class to Liam Coen’s offensive and defensive systems.
One of the biggest themes to emerge from camp was Jacksonville’s commitment to utilizing multiple tight end sets. Nate Boerkircher and Tanner Koziol both impressed coaches with their route-running and overall athleticism. Coen specifically emphasized that “12” and “13” personnel packages could become a meaningful part of the offense this season.
Defensive back Jalen Huskey also generated positive reviews. Coaches praised his physicality against the run and his natural instincts around the football. Meanwhile, Emmanuel Pregnon quickly looked comfortable on the offensive line, displaying the movement skills and power that made him one of the most highly regarded interior linemen available on Day 2 of the draft.

The Jaguars enter the 2026 season with one of the more interesting win-total projections in the NFL. Depending on the sportsbook, Jacksonville’s projected win total currently sits between 8.5 and 9.5 victories.
That range reflects the uncertainty surrounding a team coming off a 13-4 season while facing a much more difficult path in 2026. ESPN analyst Mike Clay projects Jacksonville closer to 8.5 wins, citing a difficult schedule and limited margin for error. Meanwhile, sportsbooks offering a 9.5-win line heavily favor the Under, suggesting oddsmakers expect some degree of regression.
Several factors contribute to the uncertainty. Jacksonville faces a unique scheduling challenge with back-to-back games in London, including a critical AFC South matchup against the Houston Texans. The Jaguars also finish the season with three road games in their final four contests, creating one of the tougher closing stretches in the conference.
Despite those concerns, there remains optimism surrounding Jacksonville’s ceiling. Some analysts believe the Jaguars can once again reach double-digit wins if the offense continues to develop and the defense successfully replaces key offseason departures.
