The Los Angeles Rams and Carolina Panthers meet Saturday afternoon in the NFC Wild Card round, with Los Angeles entering as a heavy road favorite in one of the most lopsided point spreads in recent playoff history. Matthew Stafford capped a brilliant regular season with 4,707 passing yards and 46 touchdowns, while Puka Nacua (1,715 yards) and Kyren Williams (1,252 rushing yards) powered a balanced attack.
Los Angeles also expects reinforcements. Davante Adams, the league leader in receiving touchdowns, is expected back, and safety Quentin Lake is trending toward returning as well. With that firepower available, the Rams’ biggest emphasis will be limiting the kind of turnovers that flipped the Week 13 matchup.
Sean McVay framed it simply this week: learn from the past, don’t live in it. “You want to use it as learning opportunities… and how do we apply it?” he said, reinforcing a playoff mindset built on execution and discipline.

The Panthers are one of the season’s biggest turnaround stories, winning the NFC South and reaching the playoffs for the first time since 2017. They are clearly an underdog on paper — Carolina finished with the worst point differential (-69) of any playoff team — but they’ve consistently exceeded expectations, especially against the spread.
Carolina’s formula starts with progress from Bryce Young, a 1,000-yard season from Rico Dowdle, and a breakout campaign from rookie Tetairoa McMillan, who also topped 1,000 receiving yards and remains in the Offensive Rookie of the Year conversation. The Panthers may also get a boost up front with guard Robert Hunt potentially returning.
Head coach Dave Canales has leaned into the moment, calling it a “championship opportunity” and emphasizing execution for four quarters. “I’m just so excited to be in Bank of America Stadium one more time,” Canales said this week — a reminder that Carolina’s best weapon may be a loud home crowd and a clean, mistake-free performance.
