The Miami Dolphins entered the draft with needs across virtually every position group, giving the front office the flexibility to focus on the best player available rather than forcing selections based on immediate roster holes. The headline move came with the selection of Alabama offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor. Miami hopes Proctor can become a cornerstone piece on the offensive line and provide long-term protection for quarterback Malik Willis. While some evaluators questioned his weight during the pre-draft process, his upside remains among the highest of any offensive lineman selected.
The Dolphins followed that pick by adding two potential defensive building blocks in Chris Johnson and Jacob Rodriguez. Johnson has the traits to develop into a lockdown cornerback, while Rodriguez was widely viewed as one of the most productive defensive players in college football last season.
The one major criticism of Miami’s draft came in Round 3 when the team selected wide receiver Caleb Douglas. Several analysts viewed Douglas as one of the largest reaches in the entire draft, making it the most questionable selection of an otherwise strong class. Overall, Miami added talent at premium positions and continued building the foundation for what the organization hopes becomes a successful rebuild.

NFL Rookie Minicamp Results
The Dolphins held rookie minicamp from May 8-9 at the Baptist Health Training Complex. The event featured 41 players, including the entire 13-player draft class, undrafted free agents, veterans, and tryout participants.
One of the biggest storylines involved Kadyn Proctor, who surprisingly spent portions of camp working at left guard. The coaching staff appears willing to explore multiple options as they attempt to rebuild the offensive line. Caleb Douglas generated positive reviews during receiving drills despite criticism surrounding his draft position. Coaches praised his physical tools and potential fit within the offense.
On defense, both Jacob Rodriguez and Chris Johnson made immediate impressions by bringing an aggressive mindset to practice sessions. Their energy and leadership were highlighted throughout the two-day camp. The minicamp also served as the first on-field opportunity for head coach Jeff Hafley and general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan to begin implementing their vision for the franchise. Following rookie contract signings, the organization will shift its focus toward training camp and the continued development of one of the NFL’s youngest rosters.
Miami Dolphins Updated 2026 Win Total Projection
The Dolphins enter the 2026 season with one of the lowest projected win totals in the NFL. Most sportsbooks currently list Miami at 4.5 wins, with betting markets favoring the Under. The number reflects the reality of a roster undergoing a major transition after moving on from several franchise cornerstones.
Analytical projections are even less optimistic. ESPN’s Football Power Index and Mike Clay’s projections forecast Miami as one of the league’s weakest teams, with expected win totals closer to 2.5 victories. The models currently give the Dolphins the highest odds of securing the No. 1 overall pick in the 2027 NFL Draft.
Several factors contribute to those projections. The roster experienced significant turnover. Veteran stars such as Tyreek Hill and Bradley Chubb are no longer part of the organization, while Malik Willis is expected to lead the offense under a brand-new coaching staff. The schedule also presents major challenges. Miami faces the second-hardest strength of schedule in the NFL, including difficult divisional matchups and games against contenders such as the Chiefs, Lions, 49ers, and the Green Bay Packers.
Despite the low expectations, sportsbooks have seen some support for the Over 4.5 wins because of the potential upside of Miami’s young roster. If Proctor develops quickly, Willis proves capable of managing the offense, and several defensive rookies contribute immediately, the Dolphins could outperform projections. Still, the consensus view around the league is that 2026 will be more about long-term development than immediate results.
